Notice from the Plant Protection Station
By law, there are strict restrictions on bringing fruits and vegetables from abroad into Japan.
Heavy penalties are imposed on those who bring fruits and vegetables into Japan illegally (including up to 3 years imprisonment with prison labor or a fine of up to 1 million yen).
If it is decided that the plant items were brought into the country with malicious intent, the police will be notified.
There are cases in which people who have brought illegal items have been arrested.
Therefore, you should refrain from bringing items such as fruits and/or vegetables into Japan from overseas.
